Today I want to share with you this simple but efficient strategy that you can use to start building your list by giving away Free Reports. People love to get instant access to information that can solve one of their problems and if you are the one who can provide them with that you are on your way to building a big responsive email list.

You probably know that a contact list is one of your most important business assets. I was recently testing the responsiveness of my mailing lists. And I came to the conclusion that leads from my double opt-in list are more responsive than the ones in my single opt-in list. So I decided to write this short post to explain the difference between those two kinds of opt-in mailing lists and why you should prefer double opt-in for your email marketing campaign.

We have to kinds of mailings lists:

- Single opt-in where emails are not confirmed before being added to a mailing list. That means that your visitor can subscribe to your list quickly but also anybody can submit a misleading email address or one which is not their own and be automatcally added to that list.

- Double opt-in on the other hand requires that email addresses are confirmed before being added to a mailing list. An autoresponder service will send a request for confirmation to the email address that was submitted and the owner of that email account must click on the activation link to confirm their request for being added to that mailing list.

Double opt-in contributes to keep your email list clean and responsive. That because people who subscribed to your list had to confirm their interest in being added to your list twice and they confirmed that they are the real owners of the email address which was submitted.

That will prevent you from malicious subscriptions and false spam complaints. When using double opt-in you are acting accordingly to the CAN-SPAM act.

A lead capture page or a squeeze page is web page with some relevant content that will entice people to give you their name and email address in exchange for some valuable information.

For this is example I will be using a PLR ebook called Safelist Marketing Tactics by Jerry Iannucci. I was clicking for credits the other day and an ad for this ebook caught my attention. I signed up, downloaded the ebook and I was excited with what I had just found. Since most of my subscribers and blog visitors are quite familiar with safelists I thought it would be something I could share with you and the perfect product to use for this demonstration, so you can copy the same system that I am about to show you and use it to build your list.

I recommend that you download and ready this ebook. What I am about to show you is just an example of what you can do and you will find a lot of tools and tips inside Safelist Marketing Tactics that  you can use to design your own lead capture pages.

1 – Edit the lead capture page with your details and opt-in form

Load NVU and click on File / Open File. Go to the directory where you unzipped the files, locate index.htm and click on Open.

You need to replace my name where it says “- Brought to you by Anderson Goncalves” and my website at the footer.

I am not going into “how to create an opt-in form” because that may vary depending on which autoresponder you are using. If you are using GVO eResponder that’s a very simple and easy thing to do and you can go here if you need instructions on how to do that. I am going to show you where you need to paste your form code.

Still on NVU click on the “Source” tab at the bottom of the screen and locate this portion of the text:

3 – Upload the files to the web server

Open FileZilla and connect to the web server.

Go the directory “public_html” or “www”, locate the folder named “safelisttactis” on your computer that you unzipped in the previous step and upload it.

Now go to: http://YOURDOMAIN.COM/safelisttactics and check if the page loads up correctly.

YES? Bingo, you’re done!

Just test it before promoting, subscribe and see if you receive the automated messages.

Always try to advertise a page with a Form, I know for my own experience that most people don’t join a program the first time they see it and if you don’t capture their e-mail addresses they’re gone forever unless they see your ad later again.

Add a form to your page and encourage your visitor to subscribe to get more information, a free report or some kind of bonus. If they don’t purchase the first time, you can still contact them later, tell them more about you and your company. They will see there’s a real person behind that they can Know, Like and Trust and that may influence their purchasing decision. Let them know you’re there to help them!

I have people who subscribed to my prospecting systems more than one month ago and only now they’re taking action after some follow up e-mail I sent to them.

The key to make them work is consistency. Send your ads whenever you are allowed to, the more lists you can send your ad to the better.

Ok, it’s time to get down to the nitty gritty and help everyone understand what it is you are doing here.

My phone is ringing off the hook and my inbox is overflowing with people asking the same questions over and over and over … and my response to all their questions is the same.

I feel like one of those Dick and Jane novels.   “Login and follow Step One” … understand the system first!

Whether you are working with our own New Rich Report system or you are working with XYZ system or ABC system, the process is the same.

Dick and Jane Learn About The New Rich Report

Do you remember Dick and Jane?  They were very simple novels that taught us to read.  Just like the Dick and Jane novels we remember from our childhood’s, I want to make this very simple.  I want to teach you how this work.   If you understand how it works and what you are supposed to do then it will be easier to do.  If it’s easier to do, you are more likely to do it.  If you do it … you will succeed!

Here are some of the things a system is going to do for you:

1.  You will use the system to build a list

2.  The system will offer you your own affiliate website that collects names and email addresses of visitors to your website (just like this one http://www.newrichreport.com/anderson) where they can request a free copy of the New Rich Report.

3.  The system will teach you how to get those visitors to your new affiliate website (all our training is offered in a step by step day to day fashion accompanied by weekly calls held online)
